Misty Morning off to Canada

It may sound kinda silly, but I'm feeling overprotective about Misty Morning...it's a long trip to Calgary.  I will be so glad to know when the painting safely reaches its new home!  I shouldn't worry after all the tape and cushioning I used.
SOLD!  Misty Morning, 24x20 inches

Dodged storms today while delivering new work for Inside/Out June exhibit at River Gallery in Chattanooga, TN

Reflections on Blue, 36x24"

On the Lane, 8x24"

We got lucky and missed all the showers and thunderstorms this morning.  I loaded the car with paintings and umbrellas and plastic bags in case of rain--and that's probably why I didn't need them.

I'm excited about the upcoming show at River Gallery with sculptor Mark Chatterley.  Can't wait to see how the show looks this Thursday at the opening reception.  The River Gallery crew works magic with installations.  I'm also excited about showing works from my new abstract landscapes series along with paintings from my in the woods series. The abstract paintings take my non-literal approach a few steps further with stronger colors and more intensity.

For directions and more information about the exhibit call the gallery at 423.265.5033 x 5.

Take a walk in the woods at River Gallery's June exhibit

On my farm in East Tennessee, our wooded lane and hillsides remind me of my childhood in West Virginia where "climbing the hills" with my brother and sister was a regular event.  "Go outside and play," our mom would say.  And we did!  We were gone for hours.  Painting these wood scenes brings back plenty of memories.

If you would like more info about River Gallery and the June exhibit, Inside/Out, contact the staff at www.river-gallery.com or call 423.265.5033 extension 5.

If you are in the area, I hope you take a few minutes to stop by the gallery!

Newest landscape paintings reflect yearning for spring

One good thing for me about this relentless cold snap is that I've been busy painting in my studio.

If you are like me, staring at leafless trees is getting old.  My newest work--based on my earlier In the Woods series--reflects my yearning for spring.  If you look closely,  the bright green leaves indicate new spring growth.  To see earlier works from this series, look under my portfolio on my website.http://ruthkoh.com/.

10 Tips to care for oil paintings on canvas

Did you know that two hooks are better than one?

I recently came across one of my old marketing brochures.  Along with my artist statement and bio, I included few helpful tips on the care and handling of oil paintings.  I made a few updates, but the information remains helpful.

See the entire list on my website. http://ruthkoh.com/care-of-oil-paintings-on-canvas/
